 Components made from vacuum formed thermoplastics are being used in increasing areas of applications – in this case a number of visible products utilized inside as well as outside in a city bus. Why choose vacuum forming? There are many good reasons to choose vacuum forming technology instead of other methods of manufacturing: Low tooling cost, cheaper start-up and a great level of freedom when it comes to design. Tooling cost : Vacuum forming tooling cost is much lower compared to other manufacturing processes such as injection molding. Cheaper start-up : Vacuum forming tool costs, rigging up etc. amounts to a fraction of the cost of other comparable manufacturing processes. This results in a low unit cost, even for low volume runs. High level of flexibility : Altering the product, the mold, the jig and doing programming changes is usually fast and cost efficient. Design : State of the art technology provides the benefit of a great level of freedom in regard to advanced and demanding designs. |
